The most important source of income for the Guna is the sale of molas, through the sale of molas the women's can solve their economic needs: education for their children's, medical, food, etc...
Please check my collection of quilted tote bags-purses they are completely quilted here (not a quilted material bought at a fabric store), machine quilting and multiple pockets for better organization, the fabric lining blend perfect with the colors on each mola, the collection also include denim purses, shopping bags, pillows, aprons, every item is one-of a kind, all molas are handsewn and incorporated to the purses by hand, my inspiration for this collection and the designs comes by being genuinley inspired by what I see out there in the blog, by today's fashion and fabric trend, a collection to include diaper bag, laptop carrier, children's purses and more.
The collection of Bella quilted Tote bags, purses, pillows, etc. is exclusive of Mola Art and Craft since 2008.
"A quilted Purse is a must for your wardrobe"
This collection was created in early 2008 and available for sale in my website in May 2008. I been fortunate to sell all the purses through my website and some of them locally. BellaModa handbags are "one of a kind" or limited edition, all the molas are handmade and it's a wonderful thought to know that you are the only person, or one of a few to own one of these handbags or purses. People love the idea that they are wearing/sitting on/or using something that is unique to them. It makes it special because there is history & culture on this artwork.
The idea of incorporating the mola flowers into the different purses: denim, quilted purses started here at Mola Art and Craft by Rita Smith (owner), the flowers are specially made for Mola Art and Craft in a variety of colors to include blue which are perfect for the denim purses.
The colors we frequently use on our purses are purple flowers, yellow, orange, fuschia, blue and red.

Add Kuna Colors & Culture to your living room....
use your molitas to make a pillow, wallhanging, curtains, tablecloth, placemats, cushion covers, book covers, quilt, add as pockets, patches, framed as a single or as a group.
Another tip on the pillows: choose orange fabric for the front panel and then black for the back panel for a contrasting of colors. The mola is so colourful that can choose any other color for the front panel of your pillow.
Infinite possibilities to express yourself...
When working on the pillows, you can resize your mola to the desire width and length, remember to pin the strips to each raw edge, remove the pin as you sew.
The molas that I display here represent the love and respect that I have for my culture, the people of my country and for all the Kunas that day by day accomplish such a unique and magnificient handwork, by collecting and selling these molas it allow me to help the Kunas directly, because this is the only source of income for them and it give me the opportunity to share my knowledge about the Kunas, history, culture, the Molas and to feel closer to my country.
